GramJyothi – A women’s livelihood project in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh
This project is being implemented in collaboration with OMPLIS, a federation of women’s groups. 4000 women are being assisted in this project to enhance their incomes.

The project uses a multi-stepped strategy which includes:
-Organising the women in groups of 10-15, called self-help groups (SHGs).
-The groups are then trained in the skills of increasing small savings so that some credit needs can be met out of their own funds.
-Groups are also provided basic skills in management and governance, which helps create an aspirational plan for each member.
-Later, they are connected with banks and government schemes to leverage credit.
-In certain extreme cases, the project also provisions direct grants to some of the deprived families.
