Waste management project in Kumbalgarh, Rajasthan to transform the area into a No Open Waste (NOW) zone

Kumbalgarh fort of Rajasthan is a World Heritage Site and a major tourist attraction. However, the village Kelwara in which the fort is located does not have a proper waste management system. In addition to the waste of the residents and the shops, a lot of waste is generated by the numerous hotels that have come up near the fort.

IGF has partnered with SAAHAS and SevaMandir to initiate a waste management project in Kumbalgarh to make it a NOW (No Open Waste) zone. The project started in December 2018 and will entail setting up waste segregation, waste collection and proper disposal mechanisms through the support of Gram Panchayat, local citizens, hotels and other stakeholders.
